Planning Umrah with your family can get expensive quickly. You need flights for everyone, suitable hotels in Makkah and Madinah and transport between the different parts of your trip. The challenge is knowing whether booking everything together will save money or simply make the process easier.
An all-inclusive family Umrah package can offer better value when its total price covers the services your family needs. But it is not always cheaper than arranging flights and hotels separately. The difference comes down to your travel dates, hotel location, room occupancy and what the package includes.
If you are travelling from the UK with children or older relatives, price is only part of the decision. A suitable hotel and convenient transport may be worth paying more for. Equally, there is little reason to pay for a more expensive hotel if a simpler option meets your family’s needs.
In this guide, we compare advertised Alhadi Travel package prices, explain what to check before booking and help you decide whether a 4-star or 5-star stay makes more sense for your family.
Is an All-Inclusive Family Umrah Package Really Better Value?
The easiest way to judge value is to compare the full cost of the trip, not the headline price.
A package pulls several arrangements into one, so you spend less time juggling flights, hotels and transport. It also makes budgeting simpler, because you know what’s covered before you pay.
That said, a package won’t always be the cheapest route. You might find a lower flight and hotel combination on your own. Just make sure you’re comparing like with like.
Before you choose, check these:
- Total price for everyone travelling
- Return flights and baggage allowance
- Hotels in Makkah and Madinah
- Room occupancy and bedding arrangements
- Airport and intercity transfers
- Visa-related services and any extra charges
Say you find a cheaper hotel by booking separately, then have to arrange and pay for transport between the cities. Another family might find that booking flights and hotels separately does come out cheaper overall. Neither route wins every time. A package is good value when what’s included, how convenient it is and the final price all match what your family needs.
You can start comparing on our family Umrah packages page.
How Much Does a Family Umrah Package Cost from the UK?
The price depends on when you travel, how long you stay, which hotels you choose and how many people share each room. December dates can also affect availability and the final quotation.
Alhadi Travel advertises the following options on its family Umrah packages page.
|
Package |
Hotels |
Advertised price per person |
| 14-night, 5-star December | Swissotel Makkah (7 nights), Sofitel Shahd Al Madinah (7 nights) | £2,700 |
| 14-night, 5-star | Rotana Jabal Omar (7 nights), Crown Plaza (7 nights) | £1,850 |
| 14-night, 4-star December | Al Ebaa (7 nights), Mysk Touch Al Madina (7 nights) | £1,299 |
| 14-night, 4-star December | Emaar Grand (7 nights), Emaar Mektan (7 nights) | £1,320 |
| 7-night, luxury 5-star December | Dar Al Tawhid (4 nights), The Oberoi Madinah (3 nights) | £2,095 |
| 7-night, economy December | Al Kiswah Towers (4 nights), Emaar Taibah (3 nights) | £749 |
I kept every hotel name, night count and price exactly as you had them. I only split the flattened text back into rows and shortened the wording in the first two columns.
These are advertised per-person rates, not confirmed quotations for every family. The final price may change according to your departure date, children’s ages, room arrangements and the services you select.
What Would These Prices Mean for a Family?
Let’s use the advertised £749 rate to understand the calculation. If four family members could all book at that rate, the total would be £2,996.
At £1,299 per person, the same calculation gives £5,196 for four people.
These figures are examples only. They assume every traveller qualifies for the advertised rate and do not confirm availability or the price of a family booking. Actual costs may differ.
There is also a difference in the length of stay. The £749 package covers seven nights, while the £1,299 package covers fourteen nights. You should compare the number of nights, hotel arrangements, flights and inclusions before deciding which is better value.
If you have children, ask whether the quotation changes according to their ages and whether they qualify for a different rate. Also confirm how many people can share each room. A price that looks affordable per person may not fit your family if you need additional rooms.
Is Booking a Package Cheaper Than Arranging Everything Yourself?
It depends on the prices for your dates and what you need.
Booking flights and hotels separately gives you more control over each part. You might land a good flight deal or a hotel that fits your budget. The catch is that you’ll have to coordinate the bookings yourself and sort out transport from the airport to Makkah and on to Madinah.
A package puts several of those arrangements in one place, which can save a lot of planning time, especially with young children or older relatives.
For a fair comparison, add up the full cost of booking separately:
- Return flights for every traveller
- Hotel rooms for the whole stay
- Airport transfers
- Transport between Makkah and Madinah
- Visa-related costs, where applicable
- Baggage and other extra charges
Then compare that total with a package quote covering the same dates, hotel standard, room arrangements and services.
A family might find cheaper accommodation on their own but end up paying more for suitable transport. Another might get a better overall price by booking flights and hotels separately. You’ll only know once you compare real figures.
Ask for a written quote before you decide. It should show what you’ll pay, what’s included and which costs are still down to you.
Are 4-Star or 5-Star Umrah Packages Better for Families?
The right choice comes down to your budget and who’s travelling with you. More stars doesn’t mean the hotel is closer to the Haram or the rooms are better, so look past the rating.
|
What to compare |
4-star |
5-star |
| Cost | Cheaper, so easier on the budget | Higher, and it varies a lot between hotels and dates |
| Location | Ask how far the walk to the Haram is and whether there’s a shuttle | Often closer, but not always, so check the distance instead of trusting the stars |
| Facilities | Usually plenty for a family | Some have extras, but it depends on the hotel |
| Children and older relatives | Fine if the room fits everyone and the walk isn’t too long | Worth it if being closer means less walking for them |
| Best when | You want to save money and the basics are covered | You’d rather pay more to make the days easier |
I rewrote the cells in plainer language and restored the first one, since your paste cut off the start of the 4-star cost row.
When Is a 5-Star Package Worth the Extra Cost?
Think about how easily your family can travel between the hotel and the Haram. If you have a toddler, use a pushchair or travel with an older relative who finds walking difficult, the hotel’s actual location can matter more than its star rating.
A suitable hotel may make it easier to return for a rest between prayers. But check the exact location, walking route, room options and transport arrangements rather than relying on the hotel category alone.
You can compare available options through our 5 Star Umrah Packages page.
When Is a 4-Star Package Better Value?
A 4 star package works well if it ticks your family’s boxes and frees up some budget.
Check the hotel’s location, room occupancy, facilities and the journey to the Haram. If those work for you, paying extra for a 5-star hotel may not be necessary.
Compare available options on our Umrah packages page.
What Should Families Check Before Booking?
A package can look good on paper but still be unsuitable for your family. Check the details that will affect your daily experience before paying a deposit.
Will the Room Suit Everyone?
Tell us how many adults and children are travelling, along with the children’s ages. Ask how many people can stay in each room and whether the quoted price changes with room occupancy.
Do not assume every child qualifies for a reduced rate or that an advertised per-person price applies to every room arrangement. Get the total price for your family in writing.
How Far Is the Hotel from the Haram?
Find out where the hotel actually is and what route you’d take. Think about how your family will manage the walk at busy times. If anyone needs regular rest breaks or finds walking hard, factor that in from the start.
Ask what transport is available and whether it’s included in your package. Not every hotel offers the same arrangements.
What Does the Package Include?
Confirm the flights, baggage allowance, accommodation, airport transfers and transport between Makkah and Madinah. Ask whether visa processing, meals and any other services are included.
If something isn’t covered, ask how much it will cost. That way you won’t end up comparing one package’s full price with another offer that quietly leaves out important expenses.
Are Your Travel Dates Flexible?
If you are planning December Umrah, consider whether you need to travel during school holidays or around Christmas. Availability and prices can vary across the month.
If your dates are flexible, ask for quotations for alternative departures. A different date may give you more hotel or flight options, although a lower price is never guaranteed.
You can explore options through our December Umrah packages page.
When Should You Book December Umrah?
If your family needs specific dates, room arrangements or a particular hotel it makes sense to start comparing packages early. This is especially relevant if you need to travel during school holidays or over Christmas.
Booking early does not guarantee the lowest price. It can, however, give you more time to compare options and check that the arrangements suit everyone travelling.
Before you confirm, check:
- Departure and return dates
- Flight times and baggage allowance
- Hotel availability for the full stay
- Room arrangements for adults and children
- Transfer details
- Payment and cancellation conditions
If you can travel on more than one date, ask for a comparison. Check the full quotation rather than choosing based on a headline price alone.
Would an Umrah Group Package Suit Your Family?
If you’re travelling with relatives or friends, a group arrangement can help everyone coordinate their plans. Depending on the package, it can also make it easier to talk through shared travel needs.
A group booking isn’t automatically cheaper, though. The final cost still depends on the dates, hotels, room arrangements and services included.
When you ask for a quote, say how many people are going and whether you want rooms together or separate. That gives the travel adviser a clearer picture of what you need.

What Do Customer Reviews and Travel Protection Tell You?
Reviews give you a feel for how other customers found the communication and the arrangements. They are useful when deciding which questions to ask but one person’s experience cannot guarantee the same result for your family.
You can read feedback about Alhadi Travel on Trustpilot and Trustindex. Look for comments relevant to your own needs, such as how clearly arrangements were explained and whether customers received important travel details on time.
Travel protection is a separate matter. Alhadi Travel’s website explains that ATOL protection does not apply to every travel service it lists. Before paying, ask which parts of your proposed booking are protected and check the ATOL Certificate issued for your trip.
For further guidance, use the Civil Aviation Authority’s ATOL holder search and its ATOL certificate guidance.
